What time do gates open at Alton Towers?
Alton Towers Theme Park is open for the 2021 season from 12th April – 7th November. The gates open at 10am and closing times vary between 4pm-9pm. Please note the Theme Park is also closed on selected days throughout the year, please see the official website for more details.

Can you wear a bum bag on rides at Alton Towers?
Guests cannot ride with bags or loose items on our rides and so will be required to place bags either in lockers or on the ride platform. These facilities vary from ride to ride and belongings are always left at the owners risk.

A lot of theme parks will ask you to remove your glasses if you can’t prove that they are secured or, for some rides such as Rita at Alton Towers Resort, will often downright refuse to allow them on. Most glasses, if properly fitted, will not fall off your head during a ride, even those more extreme ones.

Why has Nemesis Sub-Terra closed?
In November 2015, as part of the downsizing of the theme park’s operation, Alton Towers announced that six of its attractions would not reopen the following season, including Nemesis Sub-Terra. The ride was eventually removed from the park’s website before the start of the 2019 season, indicating permanent closure.
