How do you get back to Bennachie?
Getting here Follow the A96 north from Inverurie for about 7 miles (11.2 km). At the Oyne Fork turn left onto the B9002, signposted to Insch. Follow this road through Oyne village for about 2 miles (3.2 km), then turn left on a narrow road signposted ‘Back o’ Bennachie Forest Walks’.
How hard is it to climb Bennachie?
The car parks to the North have picnic areas but the paths are meant for walkers. The climb itself takes about 2 1/2 hours up 1 1/2 hours down. Just below the summit of Mither Tap is a Celtic fort which is amazing considering it’s age. Above the fort is the summit and trig point.
